By Train and Bus (Recommended)
The easiest way to reach Katsuoji Temple is by combining the Osaka Metro with the direct Hankyu Bus.
- Take the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line (which continues onto the Kita-Osaka Kyuko Line) to Minoh-Kayano Station.
- From the station, follow the signs to the Hankyu Bus terminal.
- Board the bus bound for Katsuoji Temple.
- The bus journey takes approximately 20 minutes, and the bus stops directly outside the temple entrance.
If you’re travelling from central Osaka, expect the entire journey to take around 60–75 minutes, depending on your starting point and bus connection.
Top Tip: Be sure to stay on the metro to the last stop. We had read some conflicting posts on social media advising us to get off early to get the shuttle bus before it gets too full. The shuttle bus now only runs from Minoh-Kayano Station.
By Taxi
If you’d prefer a quicker journey after arriving by train, taxis are readily available outside Minoh-Kayano Station. The ride to Katsuoji Temple takes around 15 minutes, making it a convenient option if you’re travelling in a group or want to save time.
By Car
Driving is another option, with the temple around 30 minutes from central Osaka’s expressway network. Parking is available on-site, although weekends, public holidays, and other peak periods require advance parking reservations, while weekday parking is generally available on a first-come, first-served basis. During the autumn foliage season, traffic can be extremely busy, so public transport is usually the better choice.

- If possible, arrive shortly after the temple opens at 8:00 am to enjoy quieter paths and better photo opportunities.
